2010-07-30ColdFusionMX,Flex,Macromedia,CFMXOpen Plug announces ELIPS Studio 3 for Adobe Flex BuilderCreate your rich mobile applications in record time
What is it?
ELIPS Studio 3 is leading the next generation of mobile application development environments. Now software developers and creative designers can quickly develop connected or non-connected applications... and deploy them on multiple mobile platforms.
ELIPS Studio 3 is equally valuable for experienced mobile application developers who want extra productivity, and for Adobe Flash / Flex and web developers who want to reuse their RIA / RDA assets and create rich mobile applications.
What problems does it solve?
Until now, application developers needed in-depth expertise in all the mobile operating systems if they wanted to address a global market of over 4 billion phone users. And not just every operating system: they also had to understand the differences between the individual models from each manufacturer.
ELIPS Studio 3 cuts through the complexity of the fragmented mobile market by providing a single development toolkit for the world's most popular handsets. It includes a sophisticated simulator, and the code it generates is compact and rapid enough to run even on low-specification, mass-market handsets.
How does it work?
1- Develop in Adobe Flex/Flash Builder
ELIPS Studio 3 is available as a plug-in for Adobe Flex / Flash Builder, a popular IDE for the development of RIAs and RDAs using the ActionScript and MXML languages.
2- Use our mobile Flex Framework
The product comes with a mobile-optimized version of the Flex Framework and a wide range of Flex extension libraries, including mobile device features and UI components. These provide additional capabilities beyond those found in the 'standard' Flex, such as making voice calls, accessing the phone's address book, sending SMS or MMS, taking snapshots or videos with the camera, and more. You can also import open source ActionScript Web 2.0 libraries.
3- Build and deploy for the mobile platforms you want
ELIPS Studio 3 automatically mobilizes and packages your Flex-based applications for industry-leading platforms, including iPhone, Android, Symbian, Windows Mobile, plus proprietary mass-market devices that run Real-Time operating systems (RTOS).
And because Open-Plug has a long track record of creating optimized code for cellular handsets... you?ll get amazing performance with your new Mobile 2.0 applications!

2010-07-16ColdFusionMX,Flex,Macromedia,CFMXThere are Opportunities at Large for a Flex DeveloperThe Internet is evolving fast to match up to the rising expectations of the users. The web now supports applications that have features and functionality of desktop resident software. All this is possible because of a very advanced technology called Adobe Flex. Flex is used by professional Flex developer to create superior web based applications that impart user interactivity for better experience.
Clearly, the enterprises are recognizing the prowess of Flex development and are hiring professional Flex developer who can expertly deliver an RIA which not only automates the business processing but also helps the enterprise to improve employee performance and hence increase their productivity by multiple folds. With the release of Flash Builder 4 and Flex SDK 4 Adobe has aimed to go big by adding features that help the Flex developer code faster and better. Even the testing is made easy, and the Flash Builder 4 tries to bridge the gap between a designer and a developer, and it has been successful in doing so.
For enterprise application development to be good, the Flex developer needs to have considerable experience in Flex development so as to utilize the features of Flex platform optimally and implement business data analysis and charting systems in the enterprise applications. All this can be easily implemented through the charting library of the Flex SDK that helps in getting you a business intelligence system. Companies are looking for Flex developers who can unite the organization wide business processing by deploying a one-stop-shop like RIA that can take care of all the business development requirements of all the departments and unify the data centrally.
The openings for Flex developers are worldwide as everyone is readily accepting the web based applications with desktop like functionality built on the Flex platform as these apps give more features with lesser codes. The code is easy to understand and maintain as it is well structured and a Flex developer who knows some of the good Flex development frameworks can create functional components that can be reused, extended, and modified at will.

2010-06-30ColdFusionMX,Flex,Macromedia,CFMXWhat's Adobe's 64-bit Flash plan?64-bit versions of Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux now are in widespread use, and software for the operating systems is following suit. So it may seem a bit backward that Adobe withdrew its only 64-bit version of Flash Player.
But don't take the disappearance of Adobe Labs' experimental 64-bit Flash Player for Linux as a sign of things to come. Moving its widely used browser plug-in beyond the 32-bit era is a "top priority," said Tom Nguyen, Adobe's Flash Player product manager, on Saturday.
However, Adobe isn't committing itself publicly to a delivery schedule. And if it doesn't move with some alacrity, it risks inflicting broken Web sites on computer users who do make the 64-bit shift with their browsers.
Plenty of people would be perfectly happy to see Flash fade from the Web, ranging from those who resent how it enables intrusive advertisements to those who are actively working to reproduce much of Flash's abilities in Web standards such as HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). But there are also innumerable people who rely on Flash for online games, interactive charts, video streaming, and other uses. Those who switch to a 64-bit browser without a suitable version of Flash could find the Web doesn't work as they expect.
